3RD NOVEL: The HERD
A nice tale about a "Clockwork sort of therapy applied subliminally (to teens/young adults) throughout five years, until these "little animals" (scornfully called foxes or dogs) become masters in the art of:
- Shouting, and meticulously aligning any and every object they come across.
- Disassembling and reassembling diverse types of "killing machines."
- Enduring pain, physical exhaustion, hunger, and sleeplessness.
- Internalizing an obsessive-compulsive obedience, and a total submission to their superiors.
- Following orders without any doubts or murmurs, period. Because only the superior who imparts them is responsible for them and you are only allowed to protest, or formally dispute, said mandates after twenty-four hours have transpired since you first complied with them!
At the end, after five years of absolute submission, these little creatures don't realize that they have been patiently melted into a molten liquid and then poured into a rigid mold to be cast as a brand-new life form. Yet, at the same time these kids have also been given the opportunity to graduate as officers. So, at the sound of exhilarating martial music they suddenly appear before our eyes in full formation, goose-stepping in shiny brown boots, dressed in brand-new officer's uniforms, and proudly exhibiting a 7.65-millimeter Browning pistol, hanging from their colorful belt, and a bright saber clipped into their buff leather saber-hanger straps.
This is the moment in their life, dear friends, when they suddenly find out that they know nothing about real life or peaceful, healthy, coexistence with diverse kinds of people who don't wear military uniforms, belong to diverse social classes, and have different skin colors.
